Post-workout nutrition is often over looked. After a workout we are sweaty, tired, and many of us do not feel hungry. We want to get out of the gym get and get to a shower as soon as possible. It is easy to forget to replenish your muscles with nutrient dense food that helps us recover and make the fitness gains we aim to. One of the best options for getting in calories quickly, even when you do not feel hungry, is to take in a liquid whole food option.
Our favorite happens to be a Banana Almond Butter Smoothie. It has a healthy dose of sugar from fruit that replaces your glycogen stores and it also has protein to aid protein synthesis and rebuild muscle tissue.
Banana Almond Butter Smoothie
1 whole frozen banana
2 tbsp. Almond Butter
3/4 cup Water, almond milk or whole milk for those of you who consume dairy.
Throw in a blender and drink up!
